No other colour is so versatile and diverse as the colour Red. It symbolizes strong emotions, which can evoke both positive and negative associations. It stands for love and hate, for passion and prostitution, for energy and anger all at the same time. It represents feelings such as happiness, courage and strength, as well as rage, war and danger.
ROTation shows two sides of this controversial colour in an illustrative and abstract way. The book leads the reader from a positive to a negative emotion caused by the colour red - and vice versa. The reader chooses an emotion to start reading with and by rotating the book with every page he turns, he will be led step by step to its opposite.
As colours have an influence on our optical and sensual perception, they can affect our emotional state and put us into diffe-rent moods. Altough these can vary from person to person, there are general matches in the sensation of colours, which are the same for all people. ROTation demonstrates the diverse associations with the colour red and lets the reader experience a subtle change of feelings.
